Visit Bardstown and Midway University are pleased to announce scholarships made possible from sales of the Bardstown Collection featuring specially selected product from six area distilleries that will be given to two Nelson County students who attend Midway University as a first-time freshman in Fall 2024. The scholarship is worth $5,000 per year and is renewable for up to four years of undergraduate work.

Bardstown is known as the Bourbon Capital of the World and the 2023 Bardstown Collection was made possible by distilleries which hand-selected a special expression available only on-site, and only as part of the Bardstown Collection.

Midway University is a private, liberal arts-based institution with career-focused majors located just 15 minutes away from Lexington, Kentucky, offering traditional semester undergraduate programs as well as accelerated format evening and online undergraduate and graduate programs.

The Bourbon Studies minor at Midway University is a great addition to several of Midway’s undergraduate majors, such as Business Administration or Marketing Communications. The focus of this minor is to better understand the culture and business of the Bourbon industry. Courses are designed to give students the history of the industry, learn and talk about the Bourbon tasting experience, understand the role of Bourbon in Kentucky’s tourism and hospitality industry, and be prepared for entry-level employment in the Bourbon industry or the supporting tourism industry. Midway University is also proud to offer a fully online MBA with a concentration in Tourism and Hospitality.

“With the ever-growing interest in the Bourbon Trail and Equine Tourism, Midway University is well-positioned to provide students the education necessary for job opportunities in those professions,” said Dr. John Marsden, President of Midway University. “We appreciate the support of these distilleries to help us provide students from Nelson County access to that education.”

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria by February 1, 2024:
