The Covered Bridges Whiskey Co. has announced the release of Ruddell’s Mill Double Cask Kentucky Straight Bourbon. Launched in 2021, Ruddell’s Mill is the flagship brand of The Covered Bridges Whiskey Co.

Ruddell’s Mill Kentucky Straight Double Cask Bourbon is made from the same mash bill as Ruddell’s Mill Kentucky Straight Bourbon however, it was racked into new level four alligator char barrels for an additional eight months to maximize the influence of the oak on the whiskey. It is non-chill filtered and bottled at a cask strength of 116.6 Proof.  Each bottle is numbered, and only 339 750ml bottles were produced. It will retail for a suggested $79.

Covered Bridges played an important role in the early days of American infrastructure and were often found adjacent to or nearby gristmills and distilleries – both of which were commonly built along rivers.  The Covered Bridges Whiskey Co. pays homage to specifically covered bridges with releases of whiskeys telling their stories as they lay the backdrop to our history.

In 1788, Kentucky Pioneer Isaac Ruddell founded a grist mill along Stoner Creek and South Fork Licking River creating Bourbon County’s first industrial district.  The mill processed grains utilized for the production of whiskey.  One of Kentucky’s first covered bridges, “Ruddles Mill” Covered Bridge, was built at this site in 1861.  The bridge functioned to provide easy access to both sides of Stoner Creek until 1964, when it was destroyed by arson.
