LOUISVILLE, KY (October 28, 2026) — Barrell Craft Spirits has introduced Sweet Peat, a 22-year-old blend of Canadian and Scotch whiskies finished in toasted Jamaican rum and Islay whisky casks.
The new Black Label Series release is bottled at 142.34 proof, or 71.17% alcohol by volume, and carries a suggested retail price of $199.99 for a 750-milliliter bottle. It is available through the company’s website and select retailers.
Sweet Peat combines two Speyside single malt Scotch whiskies with Canadian whisky, bringing together spirits distilled in Scotland and Canada and aged for 22 years. The blend was finished in Kentucky using two types of casks chosen to bring sweetness, oak and smoke into balance.
According to Barrell’s tasting notes, the whiskey offers caramel, tropical fruit, toasted oak and delicate peat smoke. The toasted Jamaican rum and Islay whisky casks add distinct finishing influences to the aged blend, with the company describing a profile that emphasizes the relationship between sweetness and gentle smoke.

The combination gives whiskey enthusiasts several elements to explore: mature Speyside malt, Canadian whisky and finishing casks associated with rum and Islay whisky. At more than 140 proof, the release also brings considerable strength to a blend the producer describes as balanced and gently smoky.
Founded in Louisville in 2013, Barrell Craft Spirits specializes in blending aged, cask-strength spirits. The company draws on stocks from different distillation methods, barrel types and aging environments, using blending and secondary maturation to develop its releases.
Sweet Peat continues that approach within the Black Label Series, which focuses on unusual blends produced in limited quantities. The announcement did not specify a bottle count.
