BARDSTOWN, Ky. (October 28, 2026)— Barton 1792 Distillery is expanding its lineup with 1792 Wheated Full Proof Bourbon, a new 125-proof expression that builds on the wheated recipe behind 1792 Sweet Wheat.

The bourbon will be available beginning in November in California, Texas, New York, Florida and Illinois. The suggested retail price is $39.99 for a 375-milliliter bottle.

Bottled at 62.5% alcohol by volume, the release matches the whiskey’s original barrel entry proof, offering a more intense expression of the sweetness and rounded character associated with Sweet Wheat.

Introduced in 2015, Sweet Wheat uses wheat in place of the traditional rye, producing a bourbon known for vanilla, caramel, fruit and oak flavors. Wheated Full Proof is intended to amplify those characteristics while preserving the recipe’s balance, according to the distillery.

“Sweet Wheat has built a passionate following because of its distinctly smooth, rounded flavor profile,” said Ross Cornelissen, master distiller at Barton 1792 Distillery. “With Wheated Full Proof, we wanted to take what people already love and show them another side of it. The sweetness is still there, but the higher proof brings greater depth and richness.”

Cornelissen said the release is designed to appeal to longtime high-proof bourbon drinkers as well as those beginning to explore stronger expressions.

“For someone who already loves high-proof bourbon, this expression offers the kind of bold character they’re looking for,” he said. “For someone just beginning to explore higher proofs, Wheated Full Proof is an inviting way to discover what higher proof bourbon can offer.”

According to the distillery’s tasting notes, the bourbon opens with aromas of soft caramel and dried honey, followed by ripe apricot, vanilla and sweet oak. The palate is described as silky and full-bodied, with honeyed caramel, ripe stone fruit and subtle tropical notes balanced by oak tannins. A long, warm finish carries caramelized sugar, oak and lingering sweetness.

The release follows several competition honors for Sweet Wheat, including double gold at the 2024 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, gold at the 2025 International Wine & Spirit Competition and gold at the 2026 Denver International Spirits Competition, according to the distillery.

Wheated Full Proof is distilled and aged at Barton 1792 Distillery in Bardstown. Established in 1879, the 196-acre property includes 30 barrel-aging warehouses and the Tom Moore Spring. The 1792 brand takes its name from the year Kentucky became a state.
