Canadian smoke, National Nude Days, Swifties, 4th of July, crazy weather; it must be July. The month of July has quickly become my favorite month for a variety of reasons. The hot, humid air rolling in throughout the nation gives me a reason to use a little ice in my bourbon. Also, it allows me to mix some refreshing bourbon cocktails for the lazy summer days.

My only gripe is that July 5th should also be a holiday since July 4th is a nighttime holiday. I can’t tell you how often I cut the fireworks off because either people were trying to sleep or I had to go to bed for work the next day. Maybe, if we all get together, we can make that happen next year.

So what are we drinking in July? I have a couple of suggestions.

Taylor Swift Concert (Cincinnati)
Bulleit Whiskey Kentucky Straight Bourbon

I have been told that Tay Tay enjoys Whiskey Sours. Since I will be the chauffeur for my wife and daughter’s T. Swizzle excursion, I will not be taking part in sipping on the delicious cocktail, but for others, here is a great recipe.

Tay Tay’s Whiskey Sour

  • 2 ounces Bulleit Bourbon
  • ¾ ounce of fresh lemon juice
  • ¾ ounce simple syrup
  • ½ orange wheel
  • Maraschino cherry

July 4th Independence Day
Freedom Small Batch Bourbon

  • “Freedom Whiskey Co. exists to harness that flavor into each bottle of bourbon, paying homage to those who served while honoring the individuals who have toiled to make America great.” haveashotoffreedom.com What better way to celebrate our freedom than drinking bourbon that is 100% veteran owned.

July 14th National Nude Days
Sexy Motor Oil Bourbon

  • Breckenridge Distillery released Sexy Motor Oil Bourbon in February, but I thought it was fitting for a nude holiday. Remember this such a thing as “Good Naked & Bad Naked.” If you have to ask which category you fall into, you are “Bad Naked.” Nevertheless, drinking Breckenridge’s release automatically makes you sexy in some way.
