ISLAY, Scotland — Bunnahabhain has released its 12 Year Old Cask Strength 2026 Edition, bringing back the annual small-batch expression just ahead of Scotchtober. Bottled at 55.8% alcohol by volume, the whisky offers a more powerful take on the distillery’s signature unpeated, sherried style.
Master Blender Julieann Fernandez combined the influence of Oloroso sherry and bourbon casks for this year’s release. The result pairs dried fruit, spice and chocolate notes with honeyed vanilla and toasted coconut, while retaining the coastal character associated with the Islay distillery.
The whisky has a burnished copper color. On the nose, Bunnahabhain describes raisins, figs and dates alongside cinnamon, clove and a touch of coastal freshness. The palate moves toward stewed fruit, warming spice, creamy vanilla and toasted coconut, followed by a long finish with notes of dark sugar and polished mahogany.
The 2026 edition has a suggested retail price of $143.99 and is available nationwide online and at select retailers.
