LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Barrell Craft Spirits has announced a 22-year-old Toasted Single Barrel Bourbon, an exceptionally limited release drawn from a barrel that underwent seven years of additional maturation in custom-toasted American oak.

The release consists of 165 bottles priced at $229.99 each. Online sales were scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Eastern on Oct. 7, 2026, exclusively through the company’s online sales channel.

The bourbon’s story began with Barrell’s first 15-year-old Gray Label Bourbon in 2018. During production, the company transferred a portion of that blend into nine American oak barrels toasted to its specifications, setting aside the whiskey for extended maturation.

That original Gray Label release received recognition from whiskey writer Fred Minnick, who named it “Best American Whiskey of 2018” in Forbes, according to Barrell.

The new 22-year-old bottling is the third release from those nine custom barrels. Barrell released the first Toasted Single Barrel in 2024 and the second in 2025. The company plans to release the remaining six barrels annually.

The project combines two elements central to Barrell’s approach: blending mature whiskey and exploring how further time in a specially prepared barrel changes its character. In this case, the additional seven years in toasted American oak extended the maturation of a blend that was already 15 years old.

Rather than releasing the entire collection together, Barrell is presenting the barrels individually over successive years. Each bottling represents a separate barrel from the original project, giving enthusiasts an opportunity to follow the series as it develops.

Barrell describes the latest release as a showcase for expert blending and the influence of a precisely toasted barrel. With only 165 bottles available, the offering is aimed at collectors and bourbon enthusiasts interested in older whiskey and extended oak maturation.

The company listed several restrictions on online ordering. Bottles cannot be sold online to customers in Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Hawaii, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee or Utah, according to the announcement.
