MUNICH, Germany — German comedian Michael Mittermeier is bringing his longtime interest in whisky from the stage to the bottle with Lucky & Punch, two limited-edition single malts created with St. Kilian Distillers and sold exclusively through Spiritory.
Limited to 500 bottles each, the releases take their names from Lucky Punch, the comedy club business Mittermeier runs with his wife, Gudrun, in Munich and Vienna. Each whisky represents a different character: Lucky emphasizes sweetness and fruit, while Punch combines heavy peat with Tawny Port cask influence.
Preorders opened Oct. 14, with each 500-milliliter bottle priced at €59 plus shipping. The whiskies also are offered together as the St. Kilian Lucky & Punch by Michael Mittermeier Set.
A six-time German Comedy Award winner, Mittermeier has shared his enthusiasm for Scotch single malts through his video podcast, “Mittermeiers Whisky Montag.” For his first releases, he visited St. Kilian’s distillery in Rüdenau, Lower Franconia, toured the warehouse and tasted through casks before selecting the pair.
For me, making whisky is an interplay of creativity, craft and tradition, quite comparable to comedy,” Mittermeier said. “While I present my art on stage, whisky unfolds its magic in the glass and on the tongue, and I am proud to now present my very own first expressions.”
Lucky was distilled in July 2022 and comes from cask No. 9394, a former Moscatel de Setúbal cask associated with the Portuguese fortified wine. It is bottled at 46.7% alcohol by volume, or 93.4 proof, without added coloring or chill filtration.
The producer describes Lucky’s aroma as floral and wine-like, with fresh orange, dried fruit, caramelized walnuts, honey and toffee, supported by creamy vanilla and gentle oak spice. On the palate, honeyed sweetness and fruit give way to toffee and nutty notes, followed by a finish of vanilla, sweet toffee and caramelized walnuts.
Punch was distilled in November 2020 and comes from cask No. 5914, a former Tawny Port cask. The release is described as heavily peated at 80 parts per million and is bottled at 48.3% ABV, or 96.6 proof, without added coloring or chill filtration.
Its tasting profile features red fruit, ripe figs, oak spice and cinnamon on the nose. The producer describes a creamy, full-bodied palate with ashy smoke layered over fruit and spice, followed by dark chocolate and smoke on the finish.
St. Kilian founder Andreas Thümmler said Mittermeier’s knowledge of whisky made the collaboration a natural fit.
“This collaboration was made for us at St. Kilian, and now it’s full throttle with Lucky & Punch,” Thümmler said.
The releases will be unveiled Oct. 23 beginning at 5 p.m. at the Spiritory Shop at Stemmerhof, Plinganserstraße 6, in Munich. Mittermeier will attend to sign preordered bottles and bottles available for purchase at the shop.
Customers who preorder through Oct. 16 and choose store pickup can collect their bottles at the unveiling and have them signed. Shipping for other orders begins Oct. 26, with delivery offered to 11 European countries.
“Lucky & Punch brings together everything Michael stands for: humour, timing and a real passion for whisky,” said Janis Wilczura, CEO of Spiritory. “We are delighted that these two single casks are available only on Spiritory, and we can’t wait to unveil them with him at our Munich shop on 23 October.”
Founded in 2012 by Thümmler and partners, St. Kilian produces whisky in the Scottish tradition under master distiller Mario Rudolf. The distillery has received national and international recognition, including World-Class Distillery honors at the World Spirits Award in 2023 and 2025.
