MIDWAY, KY (08/20/2025) Midway University is proud to announce that incoming freshman Anna Simpson, a graduate of Nelson County High School, has been named the 2025 recipient of the Bardstown Collection Bourbon Scholarship.
The Bardstown Collection Bourbon Scholarship, established by several Bardstown distilleries, provides financial assistance to a Nelson County student pursuing higher education with a bourbon studies focus at Midway University. The award highlights the partnership between Kentucky’s signature bourbon industry and higher education, fostering opportunities for the next generation of leaders.
Simpson, an aspiring corporate pilot, developed her passion for aviation while training as a student pilot at Samuel’s Field Airport. Through her flight experiences, she connected with numerous pilots and passengers traveling to Bardstown, the Bourbon Capital of the World, and witnessed firsthand the importance of aviation to the region’s thriving bourbon tourism industry.
“Having these interactions has greatly influenced my future career choice as a corporate pilot,” Simpson shared. “I look forward to contributing to the growth of the bourbon industry by piloting future bourbon tourists and potential business collaborators to my hometown. I would be honored to highlight the beauty of my hometown from the air to newcomers and returning visitors alike.”
“Anna’s story reflects both the entrepreneurial spirit and deep community pride that this scholarship is designed to celebrate,” said Dr. Mark Gill, Dean of the School of Business, Equine and Sport Studies. “We are excited to welcome her to Midway University and support her educational and career journey.”
The Bardstown Collection Bourbon Scholarship continues to strengthen the bond between Kentucky’s bourbon heritage and educational advancement, ensuring that students like Simpson have the resources to pursue their dreams while honoring the legacy of the Bourbon Capital of the World.
