LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 29, 2025) — Bluegrass Distillers has announced the release of its Limited Edition Thorpedo Anna 9-Year Single Barrel Elkwood Reserve Bourbon, available beginning Oct. 31, 2025.
Inspired by 2024 Horse of the Year Thorpedo Anna, the bourbon honors the spirit of a champion — bold, commanding, and enduring. The selection was a collaboration between Thorpedo Anna’s owners, jockey, trainer, and the distillery team, who chose this single barrel to celebrate the horse’s remarkable achievements.
“This bourbon embodies the heart and power of Thorpedo Anna,” said Ben Franzini, co-owner of Bluegrass Distillers, who shared the story behind the release on the Horse Races Now podcast.
In tribute to the racing community, 50% of profits from the bourbon will be donated to the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund.
The first 100 bottles, available exclusively at Bluegrass Distillers’ Elkwood Farm location (158 W. Leestown Road, Midway, Ky.), feature labels signed by jockey Brian Hernandez Jr. and trainer Kenny McPeek. The label artwork, painted by Aimee Griffith from a photograph by Skip Dickenstein, captures the strength and grace of Thorpedo Anna.
