Kentucky-based, trans-atlantic aged whiskey Never Say Die has been awarded three medals at the prestigious San Francisco World Spirits Competition, including:

  • Double Gold for its signature Small Batch Bourbon (95 points) which is the true definition of small-batch with just 2,750 bottles per run.
  • Double Gold for its Rye Whiskey (96 points) which is perfect for cocktails and sweeter than most Rye whiskeys due to the high-corn content
  • Gold for their Barrel Strength Bourbon (90 points) which is a ‘high rye’ bourbon that is both punchy and characterful

Never Say – which is co-founded by local Pat Madden and inspired the racehorse that was born on his family’s farm in Hamburg, Lexington –  is the first whiskey to be distilled in Kentucky, ocean aged across the Atlantic Ocean and then matured in England

Never Say Die is known for going against the grain and doing things a little differently:

  • A six-week voyage across the Atlantic: enhancing the whiskey’s interaction with the barrel as the sea swells, deepening its complexity and accelerating the aging process.
  • Final aging in England: the cooler, more consistent climate allows slow ageing, promoting complex flavors through gradual oxidation compared to Kentucky’s extreme temperature fluctuations which contracts the wood, infusing rich flavors.
  • Made with a proprietary ‘sweet mash’: while most whiskey brands use a traditional sour mash, NSD uses a sweet mash for a brighter, more nuanced flavor and smoother sip
  • A unique brand story: inspired by the namesake racehorse born on co-founder Pat Madden’s farm that shocked the world by winning the 1954 Epsom Derby and changing the course of rock ’n’ roll history forever
