ANGUS GLENS, SCOTLAND — Bothy Distillery has launched its private cask ownership program for Glen Prosen, unveiling the first Highland single malt whisky crafted at the distillery in Scotland’s Angus Glens.
Located on the edge of Cairngorms National Park, Glen Prosen signifies a revival of legal distilling in a region rich in whisky-making tradition. The distillery is filling casks in limited quantities, intentionally producing only one cask per day to preserve its small-batch, handcrafted approach.
The private cask ownership program allows individuals and organizations to acquire a full cask of Glen Prosen Highland single malt at the start of its maturation. Owners can monitor the whisky’s progress and, under the program’s guidelines, choose to bottle it for personal use, gifting, or resale through the distillery.

Each cask matures in government-bonded warehouses at Glen Prosen, overseen by the distillery’s production team—including Master Blender Ron Welsh, whose experience includes leadership roles with major global spirits producers.
Casks are available in different formats, such as ex-bourbon and ex-sherry, each imparting unique characteristics as the whisky matures. A typical cask yields approximately 200 to 300 bottles, depending on size and maturation period.
Ownership includes bonded storage and insurance for a designated maturation period, along with opportunities for engagement throughout, such as maturation updates and optional sampling experiences.
