BOZEMAN, Mont. — Ghostwood Whiskey is expanding its core portfolio with 3 Brothers Bourbon, a six-year-old, high-rye bourbon inspired by founder Lucas Perks’ memories of outdoor adventures and campfire nights with his two brothers.
The new expression is the fourth whiskey in the Montana brand’s core lineup. Priced at a suggested $49 per 750-milliliter bottle, it is available online for shipping to eligible states and will reach select Texas retailers beginning in October.
Its release coincides with all three brothers coming together to join the family business, connecting the bourbon’s name with a new chapter for Ghostwood.
“Some of my favorite memories with my brothers are the simple ones: getting away into the woods, sitting around a fire, telling ghost stories, and enjoying being together among the trees,” said Lucas Perks, Ghostwood Whiskey founder. “That is the spirit behind 3 Brothers Bourbon. We wanted to make an unpretentious, authentic, and approachable American bourbon meant to be opened, shared, and enjoyed with the people who matter to you.”
Distilled in Indiana, 3 Brothers Bourbon uses a mash bill of 60% corn, 36% rye and 4% malted barley. It is aged for six years in new American oak barrels with a No. 4 char and bottled at 80 proof, or 40% alcohol by volume, by Ghostwood Distilling Co. in Columbia, Illinois.
The three-grain recipe also references the brand’s early development. Corn, rye and malted barley were the original three grains that helped form the foundation of Ghostwood’s flagship whiskey. Wheat was introduced later in the whiskey-making journey, contributing to the creation of its first signature expression.
By leaving wheat out of 3 Brothers Bourbon, Ghostwood is revisiting those early building blocks while introducing a separate expression to its growing lineup.
Perks, who also serves as Ghostwood’s master blender, selected the higher-rye mash bill to emphasize the spice and character the brand seeks in its whiskey.
According to Ghostwood’s tasting notes, the bourbon is dark amber, with aromas of caramel, creamy vanilla, cocoa, chocolate and roasted nuts. The brand describes a palate led by caramel and vanilla, accompanied by cocoa, dark chocolate and subtle smoke, followed by a warm, dry finish.
The release also introduces a visual departure from Ghostwood’s existing packaging. While the brand’s other core whiskeys use its signature black glass, 3 Brothers Bourbon comes in a traditional clear bottle. It retains Ghostwood’s familiar label design and distinctive cork topper.
“3 Brothers Bourbon gives us an opportunity to introduce Ghostwood Whiskey to more whiskey drinkers while staying true to what the brand is about: family, craftsmanship, adventure, and whiskey worth sharing,” said Lachlan Perks.
“It brings a rye-forward character to the portfolio in a bourbon that is equally at home around a campfire, shared among friends, or simply poured at the end of the day.”
The new bourbon joins Ghostwood Original Blended Bourbon, Ghostwood Barrel Proof Black and Ghostwood Chardonnay Cask in the brand’s core portfolio.
Ghostwood’s Original Blended Bourbon earned Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2023 and 2024. With 3 Brothers Bourbon, the company is adding a lower-priced entry point intended to introduce more drinkers to the brand while highlighting the family experiences behind its founding.
About Ghostwood Whiskey
Ghostwood Whiskey is grounded in values: craftsmanship, heritage, family, and the timeless stories shared around a fire.
