STATESVILLE, N.C. (August 6, 2025) – North Carolina’s Southern Distilling Company, celebrated for its award-winning whiskey portfolio, has released its newest expression: Southern Star Bottled-In-Bond Straight Rye Whiskey. Crafted in a single distilling season, aged four years, and bottled at 100 proof, this release delivers the signature boldness and balance rye drinkers love—wrapped in a time-honored Bottled-in-Bond pedigree.
Distilled and bottled in-house in Statesville, North Carolina, the whiskey has a mash bill of 51% rye, 39% corn, and 10% malted barley and honors the historic Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897—signaling authenticity, quality, and provenance in every pour.
“This is a whiskey built with intention and purpose,” said Pete Barger, co-founder and CEO of Southern Distilling Company. “We leaned into the complexity of rye grain while honoring the legacy of bottled-in-bond—delivering a whiskey that’s unapologetically bold, yet remarkably smooth.”
A golden mahogany pour, the rye opens with rich aromas of earthy spice, toasted oak, and caramel, complemented by vanilla bean, dried fruit, and subtle herbal notes of mint and clove. The palate leads with peppercorn spice and finishes with a touch of brown sugar sweetness.
Southern Star Bottled-In-Bond Straight Rye Whiskey is available for purchase at Southern Distilling Company’s Tasting Room (211 Jennings Road, Statesville, NC) and North Carolina ABC stores statewide.
