May 20, 2025 – Woodford Reserve releases the newest Distillery Series Release, Tawny Port Finish, is now available for a limited release. This one-of-a-kind expression of Woodford Reserve is a masterclass in experimentation and refinement.
This is the culmination of exactly what the Distillery Series was created for: challenging creative boundaries and producing never-before-seen expressions. For the first time, Master Distiller, Elizabeth McCall, has pushed the evolution of whiskey exploration by combining Rye and Bourbon, finished in a Tawny Port Barrel to create a whiskey that is decadent and complex.
“During the process of creating this whiskey, we tasted a few different blends but this combination just hit right. The Tawny Port finish accentuates the rich fruit and baking spice character found in our bourbon and blending it with our rye brought the flavors together beautifully” said Master Distiller, Elizabeth McCall.
Tasting Notes:
Color: Dark Amber Aroma
Aroma: Brown sugar, semi-sweet chocolates, nutmeg, and clove layered over notes of overripe bananas and dried dark fruits.
Flavor: Rich raisin, plumb, clove, and nutmeg, with hints of brown sugar sweetness and toasted walnut.
Finish: Long with lingering notes of dried fruit and toasted nuts.
