HAWICK, Scotland — The Borders Distillery has adopted Bottle ERP, a cloud-based management platform, as it prepares for the launch of its first single malt Scotch whisky.

The distillery partnered with consulting firm Catalyst ERP to integrate the system, which is powered by NetSuite’s cloud platform. Bottle ERP is designed to streamline operations, strengthen quality assurance and improve tracking from grain to glass. The technology includes WMS Go, a fully integrated warehouse management system.

Founded in 2018, The Borders Distillery revived Scotch production in the Scottish Borders for the first time since 1837. The digital upgrade comes as the company moves toward releasing its inaugural single malt and positions itself for long-term growth.

“This is just the beginning,” said distiller David Shuttleworth. “We’ve laid the foundation to build a virtual distillery, creating an end-to-end system long sought after in the whisky industry. Bottle ERP will be transformative for The Borders Distillery and shows what can be achieved through collaboration and forward thinking.”

Nathan Cahoon, the distillery’s chief operating officer, said the digital transformation allows the team to follow the full production journey — from grain sourcing and fermentation to cask selection, maturation and bottling.

“Provenance is more important than ever, and Bottle ERP allows us to track it seamlessly,” Cahoon said. “We’re merging tradition with a forward-looking approach to address consumer demands on a global scale.”

Catalyst ERP’s Sam A’Bear said Bottle ERP is reshaping operations across the spirits sector.

“By connecting every stage of production, the platform gives distillers unprecedented visibility and control,” A’Bear said. “The Borders Distillery is leading by example, showing how technology can enhance craftsmanship.”

The upcoming single malt release will be the distillery’s first. Over the past seven years, the team has trained new distillers and produced a fruit-forward spirit made exclusively from barley grown within 35 miles of the site, sourced through the Borders Growers & Distillers program in partnership with Simpsons Malt.

The Borders Distillery aims to highlight the quality and potential of the long-quiet whisky region as it prepares to debut its first expression.
