Nakatomi Punch

Typically this cocktail starts to make an appearance around Thanksgiving time for me. I am putting my Holiday movie list together and there it is, that movie that we will eternally debate whether it is really a Christmas movie or not- Die Hard.

This fantastic cocktail includes not one, but TWO  Make & Muddle  products, 7 Syrup and Orange Ginger Cranberry shrub. The combination of the bourbon, red wine, and these two products creates Christmas in a cup. Beautiful red color, AMAZING deep flavors, and all without bloodshed. #yipeekiyamotherfucker

Ingredients:

Yield: 1 cocktail

Served: on the rocks

Glassware: your favorite rocks glass

1.5 oz Bourbon
1 oz Red wine
1 oz Make & Muddle Orange Ginger Cranberry Shrub*
.5 oz Make & Muddle 7 Syrup**
0.25 oz Lemon juice
Dash Orange bitters
Orange peel for garnish

Instructions:

Add all ingredients to a shaker with ice. Shake until very cold. Strain into a rocks glass with fresh ice. Garnish with an orange peel.

Make & Muddle products are shipped world wide. If you do not have immediate access, I have provided some substitutions.

*Orange Ginger Cranberry Shrub-

0.5 oz cranberry juice

0.25 oz cinnamon orange simple syrup

0.25 oz ginger syrup (you may also use Domaine du Canton liqueur)

For the syrup, bring 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water to a boil. Remove from heat and pull out half of the syrup into another pan. To the first pan, add 2 sticks of cinnamon and the peel of one orange. To the second pan, add 3 inches of fresh ginger root cut into .25 inch coins. You do not need to peel the ginger, just wash it well before adding it to the syrup. The highest concentration of ginger flavor is located in the skin. We want that infused in the syrup. Steep both syrups for at least 2 hours. Strain and store in the refrigerator for up to a month

**7 Syrup

7 Syrup substitution. 1 oz 7 syrup =

0.5 oz Allspice Dram (contains alcohol)

0.5 oz cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg simple syrup

For the spiced syrup, bring 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water to a boil. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and add 2 cinnamon sticks, 1 tsp whole cloves, and 1 whole nutmeg, cracked with a mortar and pestle. Steep for 2 hours. Strain and keep refrigerated for up to a month.
