Western Kentucky Distilling Co. officials announced it had filled its first oak barrel. Last year, the distilling company announced the groundbreaking of a new $30 million state-of-the-art distillery in Beaver Dam, Kentucky. The distillery will open in mid-2023 and will be the first official distillery in Ohio County.

According to the company’s Facebook page, “Today, we are not just filling our first barrel. We are writing the opening chapter of an unforgettable story crafted with love, patience, and tradition. Each barrel of bourbon we create carries a unique narrative, a testament to our journey and the soul of our distillery. This is not just about producing exceptional whiskey; it’s about creating experiences, forging connections, and sharing the tales that each drop of our distilled spirit will tell. We can hardly contain our excitement as we look forward to sharing these stories. Each grain, each barrel, and each bottle is a chapter of our narrative. As we look forward to the unfolding of this remarkable saga, we are filled with gratitude for your support and enthusiasm. The story has just begun, and we are thrilled to have you with us on this epic adventure. There are too many more chapters to be written and stories to share! Stay with us. The journey is about to get even more exciting!”

The distillery launched under the leadership of eighth-generation distiller and Kentuckian Jacob Call (previously Green River Distillery), who will serve as COO and Master Distiller alongside Kentucky native and president of the distillery, JD Edwards.
